I bought this after an aquarium heater failed and overheated my tank. Fortunately this occurred while I was at home and I was alerted with a high temperature alarm. When heater thermostats fail and lock on, the water temperature can become lethal within a couple of hours. I've lost fish before because of this type of failure so after a close shave I decided to buy the Inkbird ITC-308S.

Setup was easy. Initially I installed the probe in the tank to get the average running temperature. I then set the target temperature (SV) to the temperature obtained previously & the heating differential (HD) to 0.3 centigrade. I also set the high temperature and low temperature alarms to 1 centigrade either side of the target temperature. I'm unlikely to use the cooling circuit of this device but it's available if we ever get a heatwave in the North of England!

Update 26/07/18:
Heatwave arrived 2018! The cooling option is working well with an air stone (to break the water surface) and a 4" USB powered fan placed downwards over the feeding hatch. The Cooling differential (CD) is set to 0.3 Centigrade so my aquarium temperature stays within 0.3 degrees of the target. Brilliant.

This is a nice piece of kit and a brilliant idea for homebrewing. However, my experience wasn't great. The first item arrive with a cracked screen and marks all over it - probably a used item sent back into the market place. The replacement arrived (had to pat the postage - not good) and whilst it works well it is wildly inaccurate and has a large lag on its response. I reckon it reads 3 degrees C under temperature and it takes a good two minutes to reach a steady temperature reading. The other thing I'm not sure about is the dead zone - it's great to have it cutting in after an adjustable delay in temperature but the heating or cooling outputs don't switch off until your desired setpoint is reached which causes an overrun (especially in heating mode).
Good but could be better is my summary.

Instructions could be better on how to set the differentials in the temperature range, so it took a while to get it to work for my needs.
It does function well once set and the cable length is adequate for my needs, the display/controls can be situated so they can be adjusted as needed, which in my case is quite often, so it has had lots of use on different equipment.

Great product, but you cannot have a gap between heating and cooling as it will always try and get to the set temp.
I wanted to set a low threshold that heating would maintain and a high threshold when cooling would occur. But once heating is triggered it heats until set temp and once cooling is started it cools until set temp is reached. But you can only have one temperature set. It’s just to precise or controlling for what I wanted

Worked for 4 days then stopped. Both the heating and cooling lights came on, and the temp displays have gone out. Rather disappointing as in the current heat my current home brew batch may well be ruined.
“Conveniently” this happened a couple of weeks after the return period.
I’m awaiting a response from the seller.

Very good. The sensor is a little off (about +1.3°C) but can easily be calibrated. I trust it and would recommend
